German Pastors Visiting our Church 2018

As of Friday 21 September 2018 a delegation from the Evangelical Church of Württemberg in southwest Germany headed by bishop Frank July, visited our Church and its various ongoing projects in Schneller, Abey and elsewhere. The delegation also met with Eastern Church leaders and visited a project in Baskinta that Württemberg also supports through the good offices of Rev. Badr.
On Sunday September 23 the delegation participated in our worship service. Bishop July preached the sermon. Rev. Marianne Wagner, the president of EMS and a member of the neighboring Church of the Palatinate, also shared with Rev. Badr in the pastoral prayers. Mrs. Inge Schneider, president of the Württemberg Synod, gave a word of greeting.
Additionally, 6 pastors from Germany and one from Scotland (Susanne Gessuer, Elke Jung, Renate Kath, Annette Hermann, Claudia Ginkel, Volker Bleil, all German and Pamela Strachan from the Presbyterian Church of Scotland) who are spending a 3-month sabbatical at NEST, joined the worship service.
Afterwards, a reception in honor of the delegation was held at Charles Saad Hall. Rev. Dr. Salim Sahiouny, the head of our Evangelical community in Syria and Lebanon, as well as other Evangelical leaders were in attendance.
Sunday School Summer Camp 2018

Our NEC Kids had an amazing time in Schneller school where they had their annual summer camp from 24-28 of August 2018. The theme this year was:
Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose.

NEC Teenage Summer Camp 2018

In July 20-25, 2018 the teenage group of our church spent their summer camp in Schneller and in Alley Equiclub. The theme was King's Quest: For King, For kingdom, for ever. The teenagers worshiped together, had animated discussions, built a play house for the Schneller kids, and played lots of games! A group of teenagers from the Netherlands joined our camp as well and shared in our discussions and fun.

MEC Cooperation with Dienste für Menschen

On Sunday May 27 NEC hosted in church two groups of visitors from Germany. Anselm Kreh, who was a coworker at the Schneller School some years ago, brought a group of 19 people from churches in the diocese of Württemberg on a tour of Lebanon. In church Anselm and other members of the group shared some meditations, piano music and prayers. The second group was made up of two people from the organization Dienste für Menschen (DfM), one of the largest ministries for elderly people belonging to the Church of Württemberg. Mr. Frank El-Banani and Ms Christina Kuhn were guests of Moadieh Evangelical Center (MEC) from 25 to 29 May. In Church Mr El-Banani greeted our congregation in the name of his organization. On Monday 28 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by MEC and DfM to promote future cooperation between the two ministries for elderly people.
Mienste für Menschen aims for comprehensive care, assisted living, sustainability and spiritual welfare. They have in total 21 facilities in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Saxony. In our Moadieh Evangelical Center we always aim to serve better.
Trip to Chouf - Lebanon

The Helping Hand Association organized a trip to the Shouf area on Sat. May 19th. The trip started in Deir el Qamar - the Hill of the Cross then going to Al Mukhtara palace where the group was received with a warm welcome- thanks to Walid Beik and Mrs.Noura Jumblat. The group proceeded to Baakline where we visited the Hamadeh palace and from there to Al Warhanieh to meet the Assaf brothers in their beautiful atelier ending the trip in Diwan Alfara7 restaurant.
Doctor Anise Freiha

The Helping Hand held its monthly meeting in Charles Saad hall on Fri. 27th of April at 3:30 pm. The guest speaker was Dr. George Freiha, the former director of OCP of the American University of Beirut. He was asked to talk about the late Dr.Anise Freiha, a member of our church, who was a linguist, a writer and a university professor. Anise Freiha was known for his love for the Lebanese village and wrote about it and it's traditions so that it doesn't fade away. He left to the Arabic reader so many books the most famous is اسمع يا رضا.

Sunday School Easter Trip 2018

The Sunday School organized a trip to Mar Chaaya Farms today. A group of 60 people joined! We fed animals, planted seeds, colored eggs, hunted for eggs, ate breakfast together and jumped on inflatables. All had fun and made friends.

Mother's Day 2018

Helping Hand Society organized a lunch on the occasion of celebrating Mother's Day. It was in Coral Beach Hotel Beirut on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Motherhood is a blessing from God. Everybody enjoyed the fellowship and praised God for what he/she has received.
On Friday, March 16 and a day before the lunch, the Helping Hand Society hosted the Lebanese actor Fadi Ibrahim, who is member of our church. Mr. Fadi talked about his experience and about the occasion as well.
World Day of Prayer in Beirut

World Day of Prayer (WDP) was celebrated this year at the Near East School of Theology (NEST) on the 2nd of March 2018. The title for this year is taken from the Book of Genesis: "All God's Creation is Very Good" and the program was prepared by the women in Suriname, Guianas. The committee of WDP in Lebanese adopted the program for the local churches and uses.
The speaker was Dr. Fifi Kallab She focused on God's creation and how we should love and preserve it for God gave humanity all beautiful things.
