A Day of Activities for Displaced Kids

Our church participated in a day of activities for the displaced Assyrian kids in the neighborhood of Sad El Baouchriye, Maten in Lebanon. On the first of May 2015, more than one hundred boys and girls came to the Assyrian Church courtyard to play and enjoy the spring time along with the Near East School of Theology students. It was wonderful time and experience to be in contact with Iraqi and Syrian displaced kids.

 

Confirmation Service 2015

Confirmation class is when our youth in the church understand their baptismal vows and promise to keep them in their life. After a series of Biblical lessons during previous year, confirmands received at the church the Communion Right Hand and participated in the Eucharist.

May the LORD make His face shine upon them, and be gracious to them.  

The Confirmands for this year: Michel & Emile Nassib Boustany, Maria & Joy Paul Habbouche, Diana Adnan Ghrab.

 

Mothers' Day, 2015

Helping Hand Society organized a lunch at Dbayeh, Marina Club, on March 21, 2015 on the occasion of Mothers' Day. 

Happy Mother's Day to all moms. May they be blessed according to their love and sacrifices. 

The Protestant Reformation and the Middle East

Rev. Habib Badr and the Baord of Elders of our church held a reception and dinner in honor of the participants in the International Conference on The Protestant Reformation and the Middle East, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. It was a historical event indeed that the oldest Catholic University in Lebanon, St. Joseph (USJ) which was founded in 1881, and the oldest Protestant Theological seminary in the ME (Near East School of Theology - NEST) joined together to participate in the Luther Decade which is leading up to the commemoration of 500 years anniversary of the Reformation in 2017. Many distinguished guests attended the occasion. Among them were: Her Excellency Prof. Margot Käßmann, Ambassador for the Reformation Anniversary in 2017 on behalf of the Council of the EKD; His Grace Bishop Munib Younan, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, President, World Lutheran Federation; His Excellency Mr. Christian Clages, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.

World Day of Prayer 2015

Christian Women in Lebanon celebrated World Day of Prayer (WDP) on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut. WDP is a unique worldwide inter-denominational worship service that each year a country would write it. This year, the service was written be the women of Bahama. The Theme was taken from the Gospel of John 13:1-17

"Jesus said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?"

The speaker was Dr. Rima Nasrallah van Saane. Theme was on the "Radical Love"of Jesus Christ. 

Gabriele Mayer Speaks to the Helping Hand Society

Gabriele Mayer, head of the Women and Gender Office in the EMS association spoke to the women in the "Helping Hand Society" in our church on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. Ms Mayer talked about her work and experience in EMS, particularly the programs that deal with women's issues and how the women's problems differ form country to country.  

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2015

The opening Week of Prayer for the Christian Unity was celebrated in St. Ephrem Church in Achrafieh, Beirut, on Sunday, Jan.18, 2015, at 6:00 P.M. And the closing prayer was in St. Elias in Antelias, Jan.25, at 7:00 P.M. Theme for this year is taken from John 4:7, "Give me to drink". 

Loving God, help us to learn from Jesus and the Samaritan that encounter opens for us new horizons of grace. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Christmas Eve 2014

In Christmas Eve, kids of our church performed this year the Christmas drama during the worship service on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. It was inspiring and full of Christmas joy.

"For we saw His star in the East and have come to worship Him" (Matt.2:2)

Christmas Carols 2014

Two groups presented Christmas Carols in our church. The Children's choir led by Noha Hatem and Isabelle Issahakian on the piano performed their songs on Sunday evening, Dec. 21. This one is organized by Beirut Chants Festival. And the Lebanese American University (LAU) Christmas Choir, directed by Leila Dabaghi, performed on Tuesday 23rd of December. Our church choir participated too in Dhour Shweir Christmas Festival and lighting the tree.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Helping Hand Society organized a potluck dinner on the Thanksgiving Day attended by the church congregation. It was a blessing and joyful time to remember God's goodness during the last year, and recall His love that endures forever.

 

United Against Violence in the Name of Religion

Rev. Habib Badr participated in an International Conference organized by KAICIID Dialogue Center in Vienna from 17th to 19th of November, 2014. Religious leaders from different Christian Muslim denominations in the Middle East and the world gathered together to denounce with one voice all violence in the name of religion that is taking place in Syria and Iraq. 

The Conference title was: "United against Violence in the Name of Religion".
